Must See: D-Cinema
July 13, 2008
Last Wednesday, the D-Cinema at The Block, SM North Edsa was launched. Despite having classes to attend and reports to cram, I wiggled my way out of that to attend to “more pressing events” mwahaha!!!
Anyway, given my new-found commuting powers, I decided to figure out how to get to SM North without my trusty car (besides, coding ako nun hehe!). Met Janine mid-way from DLSU and PLM (also known as SM Manila). Unfortunately, we couldn’t get an FX or an Airconditioned bus to get to where we needed to go. Minutes away from giving up, we finally found a jeep with the long-awaited plackard: SM West/Trinoma.
So off we went…
When we got to the venue, I was SHOCKED! This was so different from the SM North I used to know. The renovations of SM deserves its own post, so I’ll attend to that soon. In the meantime, let me get back to the my “pressing event”.
In the sign up table, I got asked, “Are you with the press?”. What a pressing question given my excuse of coming to the movie as a more “pressing event” hehe!!!
Before the movie, we were treated to burgers, nachos, fish sticks and pasta care of Tender Bob’s. I didn’t particularly enjoy the fish so much, but the burger was pretty good. Bubba liked it too
(shempre I smuggled one home for him!)
The movie was not really my type of movie but I have to admit: I enjoyed it a lot! Eye-candy aside (calling Grace: I call dibs on the little cutie Josh!!!), the effects were FABULOUS! I loved the scene with the dandelions and that beach at the center of the earth was breathtaking. The script/writing was pretty good too. I loved the little punchlines thrown here and there.
Overall, I would rate D-Cinema as two-thumbs up! It’s worth the fee of Php301.00 per head, definitely. Lucky for me I got to see the movie for free! The D-Cinema is definitely a must see. I don’t know how it compares to the IMAX theater, but when I finally get to use that free ticket from the Coke bloggers event, I’ll have a better idea. The drawback to the cinema, aside from the fee, is that it’s SO FAR AWAY!!!
Thanks so much to Ed for the invite! Sa uulitin!!!
